It's heeeere! After several false alarms, Let's Go Everywhere, the new Medeski Martin & Wood album has arrived. When John Medeski, Chris Wood and Billy Martin go into the studio to record any new album, they re never sure what will emerge. It was no different when the trio gathered in an upstate New York studio last year with a few concepts, a few musical ideas and a few friends, to create Let s Go Everywhere, the first recording designed to please their youngest fans. Amazon.com says "Let's Go Everywhere is the kind of record that kids-music insiders get all wound up about, and for a reason that can be summed up in two tidy little words: it's awesome." Learn more!
If you live near New York, MMW will be performing two shows for young audiences: January 9th at Border's in Columbus Circle and January 12th at Levon Helm's Kid's Ramble in Woodstock. We'll also be rolling out their awesome animated video for "Where's The Music" later in the month.
Production begins this month on the first episode of the Little Monster Music Hour Podcast. DJ "Daddy" Dave Leonard will host along with the Little Monster gang, and a great time is guaranteed for all!
This winter will bring two new collections from Little Monster. First, we will be re-releasing last year's All Together Now CD/Book set with a new look and bonus tracks. In its first run as a Barnes & Noble exclusive, ATN got great reviews, sold out quickly, and even won awards for Nate Williams' beautiful artwork. Now, the album, which features real kids singing along with Rachael Yamagata, the Bangles, Marshall Crenshaw and other guests, will enjoy widespread release. We hope it gives families an opportunity to introduce the Beatles to their children and even to rediscover what so many consider to be the world's greatest band!
As a companion to All Together Now, we are releasing Soulville, a collection of classic R & B, some ubiquitous, some obscure, to provide kids with an introduction to the music that helped shape our culture. The album will be packaged with a book, also with art by elementary school kids and graphic designer Nate Williams, poems for toddlers and 'Soul Facts' for older kids and their parents. The Little Monsters join in with spectacular soul singers Tabitha Fair, Ray Frazier and Chocolate Genius.
